John M. Brown Community Center
The John M. Brown Community Center (formerly known as Apex Community Center) is located on the Town Hall Campus at 53 Hunter Street. The center has several rooms available for rent. The three largest rooms are separated by partition walls that can open to accommodate the need for more than one room’s capacity.

Hours for rentals must coincide with the building’s operating hours:
Monday through Friday: 8am - 9pm
Saturday: 9am - 6pm
Sunday: 1pm - 6pm (Closed Sundays June through Labor Day)
After-hours rentals can be approved by the Parks Director at an extra cost of $50 per hour beyond the regular scheduled building hours (this fee affects the overall hours of the rental is not a per room fee).
All facility rentals require a $250 refundable deposit and are a two-hour minimum. All fees must be paid in full in order to hold a date.
Reservations can be processed in person at the John M. Brown Community Center between the hours of 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday. For information about availability, call (919) 249-3402.
Apex Senior Center
The Apex Senior Center is located on the Town Hall Campus at 63 Hunter Street. The center has several rooms available for rent. The three largest rooms are separated by partition walls that can open to accommodate the need for more than one room’s capacity.

The Halle Cultural Arts Center
The Halle Cultural Arts Center is located in Historic Downtown Apex at 237 N. Salem Street. The center has a 150-seat auditorium located on the second floor as well as several rooms on the first floor available for rent.

Park Shelter Rentals
Several parks throughout Apex have picnic shelters that are available for rent. Each shelter has three different rental blocks you can choose from. All rental blocks and prices are listed below.

Reservations can be processed in person at the John M. Brown Community Center between the hours of 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday or Shelter Rentals can be reserved online here. To avoid any issues trying to rent a facility online, please use a computer (not a cell phone) and use Google Chrome as your browser. Some of the shelters can accommodate inflatables (subject to approval prior to your rental date). Please see the Shelter Rental Form for more details. The Apex Nature Park Amphitheatre (2600 Evans Rd) is also available for rentals - click here for the rental form and more information on use and pricing. Amphitheatre rentals are processed in person at any of our staffed facilities.

Hours
Hours for rentals must coincide within park hours of operation. Shelter rental times are 8am - 9:30pm year round for all shelters (with the exception of Seagroves Farm Park which closes at 8:30pm). If you are renting a Town of Apex park shelter which has lights, they will not come on until after dark and are controlled by a photo sensor. There are no switches to turn lights on and off in our shelters.
Shelter Refund Policy
Please note: The policy below still applies if you decide to cancel your rental due to last minute poor weather conditions. The only exception would be if the Town decides to close the park for any reason, see "d)" below.
a) No reschedule, credit or refund, in any amount will be made if persons/group cancels less than 7 business days prior to the rental, INCLUDING RENTALS MADE WITHIN 7 BUSINESS DAYS OF THE RENTAL DATE.
b) If persons/groups request a change more than seven business days prior to the rental event, all fees may be transferred subject to room availability and the availability of required staff. However, reschedule dates may occur no later than 30 calendar days from original date.
c) If persons/groups cancel 7-59 business days prior to rental only a 50% refund will be issued upon written request. If persons/group cancels rental 60 or more business days prior to rental a 90% refund will be issued upon written request.
d) The Town of Apex reserves the right to cancel reservations if such cancellation is deemed to be in the best interest of the Town or if the Facility is closed due to weather-related events, natural disasters, epidemic, pandemic, riot, civil disobedience, or other event outside of Town’s reasonable control. A full refund will be made if the Town cancels the rental.
Field, Courts & Rink Rentals
Athletic facilities are available for rent throughout the year. All paperwork and payments must be completed a minimum of 2 business days in advance of rental. You can view availability here. Town of Apex programs take priority at all facilities.
- When not reserved for a program or rental, athletic fields, courts and rinks are available for use first-come, first-served (unless closed for weather or maintenance).
- Organized events and team practices or games are not permitted without renting the field (insurance required).
- Field lights will only be turned on for paid rentals.

- Basketball Courts: $15/hr (Apex residents) / $22.50/hr (non-residents).
- Note: due to high demand, individual tennis and pickleball court rentals are not available.

Notice for Rentals at ALL Facilities
Prohibited Items for Rentals (shelters, rooms and fields): alcohol (except when pre-approved at the HCAC only), rice, birdseed, glitter, colored powder, confetti, helium balloons, paints, dyes, fireworks or tape, nails, screws and staples
Facilities cannot be rented by persons or groups for the purposes of making a profit, fundraisings, auctioning, selling, trading or exchanging products and services UNLESS by qualified nonprofit group exhibiting proof of 501c3 status (in person) at the time of application and with the prior approval of the APR&CR Director.
If you are renting a shelter or facility with the intent of using the rented space or any other portion of the park where the rental is located for an event such as but not limited to, a charity walk, run, carnival, dinner, or other activity, your rental may be confirmed but is not valid until you submit additional paperwork. Please contact the John M. Brown Community Center at (919) 249-3402 for more information. This can include but is not limited to items such as a summary and schedule of the event, number of persons planned to attend, 501(C)3 documentation and proof of liability insurance naming the Town of Apex as insured. After the above-mentioned are submitted to the Town of Apex Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department, the director will review the request and approve, approve with modifications, or deny the request.
Facility rentals at the John M. Brown Community Center, Apex Senior Center and Halle Cultural Arts Center must be a minimum of two hours. Shelter rentals must be a minimum of three hours with sixty minutes between each rental.
Rental rates are determined by Apex residency status. For purposes of program registration and facility rentals, a resident shall be defined as any family or individual that resides within the established corporate limits of the Town as defined by the Apex Planning Department.
