Here in Apex, we believe all citizens should have an equal opportunity to participate in recreation. Our Play It Forward scholarship fund helps remove barriers to participation by allowing residents to apply for funds that can be used towards most Apex Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources (PRCR) programs.

Thank you for your interest in donating towards the Town of Apex Play It Forward campaign! Your generous, tax-deductible donation will help enrich the lives of your fellow Apex neighbors by supporting them financially to participate in a variety of our recreation programs. 100% of your donation goes directly towards the program, and donations are welcome at any time. The Town of Apex Tax ID number is 56-6001166.

Donations can be made in a variety of ways:

  • Online (click here) 
  • In person during registration or anytime with our front desk staff
  • During APRCR program registration (either online or in-person) at PeakConnect

Eligibility

In order to apply for and receive approval for funds, a participant must be an Apex Resident (check your residency status here). Only one application is needed per household, and the application is good for one year. Funds can be used towards any PRCR department offering including but not limited to: classes, workshops, recreation permits and Open Gym passes. However, funds cannot be used towards facility rental fees.

Application Process

In order to apply for financial assistance, applicants will need to complete the following steps:

  • Fill out and sign the application form (English / Español)
  • Collect all necessary documents including: a photo ID for all adults, birth certificates for all children, documentation of all monthly household income, and proof of permanent residence in Apex (such as a TOA Bill)
  • Call 919-249-3354 during business hours (Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm) to schedule an appointment 

The primary applicant must be at least 18 years of age. Application approval and distribution of funds typically takes 2-3 business days after the initial appointment. Eligible applicants are encouraged to apply well in advance of desired registration periods to ensure their request can be processed beforehand.
