Important Information & Resources
ePermits
Public
You can access the Public Information Search without any need for an account. You can search by permit number or address for inspection results/inspector information. Enter the last 6 digits of the permit number only or type in the address. All issued permits will display. You can open any permit to see general information and any inspection to see the inspection results.
Contractors
You can pay fees, check permit information and inspection results via the ePermit Contractor Access Portal. You can also create and pay for your single-trade RESIDENTIAL permits. A permits specialist will issue your permit and attach the PDF to your permit.
Registration is required for contractor access. If you need help creating or accessing an account, please submit this FORM. For other issues or questions, call (919) 249-3418. If you have not accessed the website before, please view the ePermits instructions.
Please note: COMMERCIAL SINGLE TRADE permit applications have to be reviewed by our Planning Department prior to permit issuance. You may upload through the IDT portal; or fax your applications to the Permits Department at (919) 267-4912. Remote Inspections
Remote inspections are available upon request for certain inspection types, in accordance with guidance from the NC Department of Insurance.
How it works:
- When requesting a remote inspection, please upload all documentation normally required for an in-person inspection.
- An inspector will contact you if additional information is needed or to schedule the video inspection.
Please note: Some inspections may not be eligible for remote review based on the project or video assessment. In these cases, the inspector may request additional documentation or require an in-person inspection.
