Culture and Arts Advisory Board (CAAB)

Purpose and Duties

The Culture and Arts Advisory Board (CAAB) for the Town of Apex is responsible for increasing community awareness for various forms of art and building a vital and ever-expanding creative community.   The CAAB will gather public input through surveys, focus groups, meetings with civic groups, neighborhood groups, etc., and liaising with Town Departments and other Town Committees related to culture and arts initiatives.   CAAB shall be responsible for recommending projects, programs, and potential artist to the Town Council for consideration in the development of certain projects.  

Note: The Culture and Arts Advisory Board (CAAB) was established as a standing Advisory Board with the Town of Apex on June 24, 2025.  Prior to this date, the charge of public art was previously under a non-standing Public Art Committee (PAC).  PAC operated as a subcommittee of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (PRAB).

Members

The Culture and Arts Advisory Board (CAAB) shall consist of nine (9) voting members, including one youth representative as defined in the Resident Advisory Board Administrative Policy.  All members shall be recommended by the Mayor and appointed by the Town Council.  Members shall be appointed for two-year (2) terms, except the voting youth representative which shall have a term of one-year. Membership shall be restricted to residents of the town's corporate limits except that no more than two (2) members may be residents of the Town's established Extraterritorial Jurisdiction (ETJ).

Meetings
