Roads

The heart of Apex is ideally situated between US Highway 64 to the north and US Highway 1 to the south. NC 540 bisects the Town on the western side and NC Highway 55 (Williams Street) bisects centrally. This excellent network of roads allows the movement of goods and services to happen with ease.

Electricity

The Town of Apex is proud to be a public power community, providing electric service to almost 15,500 residential and commercial customers. For more information, visit the Town of Apex Electric Utilities Department.

Natural Gas

Natural Gas in Apex is provided by PSNC Energy.

Telecommunications

In 2016, the Town of Apex, in partnership with AT&T, entered in to a promotional agreement designating over 10 business and industry corridors as AT&T Fiber Ready.

Water

The Town of Apex maintains over 310 miles of waterline and serves 19,723 customers. Drinking water for the Town of Apex is produced from Jordan Lake and processed at a treatment plant that is co-owned and co-operated by the Town of Cary.

Treatment Plant

The plant opened in 1993 and current treatment capacity at the plant is 56 MGD. Apex has a 12.9 MGD share of the capacity. 

Jordan Lake

The water plant is located 6 miles from Jordan Lake, which is part of the Cape Fear River basin. The lake was created to control flooding, improve flow downstream, provide recreation and supply water regionally.

Wastewater

Wastewater services are provided by the Town’s Middle Creek Water Reclamation Facility and the Western Wake Regional Water Reclamation Facility which is jointly owned by Apex, Cary and Morrisville. Apex owns a combined 9.8 million gallons per day (MGD) of wastewater treatment capacity and maintains a collection system consisting of 296 miles of pipeline and 32 pumping stations.
