David and Sean Stickel, a father and son duo! David loves to create works of art in the fascinating medium of watercolor; using vibrant color that speaks to the heart and captures the curiosity of the mind. He is known for his representational paintings of reflections, especially of windows. David loves how each work tells its own story. Growing up in a creative home, Sean often observed his father painting and learning his techniques. Sean’s earliest successes and awards were in high school with numerous Best of Show and 1st place awards at the NC State Fair. Creating the artwork for his “Odyssey of the Mind” team competitions contributed to their winning 3rd in the world twice and expanded his art horizons. Since then, he has won numerous awards in local competitions including the Fine Arts League of Cary, NC and the Watercolor Society of North Carolina. The biggest thrill was when David and Sean had paintings juried into the American Watercolor Society Exhibition in NYC in 2016, the first father and son to have their work selected for the same year.
Susan Peters finds herself truly happy when creating! She has always been creating something – from her early years of finger painting on rocks in the creek bed behind her grandmother’s house to present day with acrylic and canvas. In art, oftentimes akin to life, we succeed and fail. Every experience, whether failure or success is part of who we are and important. Susan finds portraying these successes, as well as the failures, through her art to be liberating and part of the human experience.
