We have several events this July which will be great opportunities for you to celebrate National Parks and Recreation Month with us! Attend our Fourth of July celebration, participate in a new scavenger hunt or come out on July 16 for our big event. Learn more about July activities here

We re excited to partner with Kids in Parks to bring a TRACK Trail to the path around Lake Pine in Apex Community Park.

When you visit the park, you will find this new kiosk at the trailhead next to the shelters. Drive in from the Laura Duncan entrance (2200 Laura Duncan Rd) all the way back to the end of the parking lot.

StoryWalk® at the Parkstorywalk small sign

We are excited to introduce StoryWalk® to Apex! You can read a provided children's book as you walk along a short trail. The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Storywalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.

CURRENT LOCATIONS (as of 6/11/21):  

Book 1: Salem Pond Park. This trail around the pond is about 1/2 mile paved path.

Book 2: Apex Community Park, near the large shelter. This trail is short but unpaved.

If you have already done one of our Storywalks®, we would love for you to share your feedback here. We typically keep our books up for about a month at each location. We will update the webpage here as soon as changes are made.

We have an updated version of our nature scavenger hunt up now at Salem Pond Park!

Add a little bit of adventure to your walk by participating in our scavenger hunt! Salem Pond Park includes a paved path around the pond and a train themed playground. You can participate in the scavenger hunt anywhere in the park!

All you need to do is check the list in this form and submit what items you find!
